Join Us for a "Smallish" Exhibition

Spring is here, and it is time to clean the dust off your shelves and make room for inspiring artworks or perhaps new mugs in your cupboards. We have plenty of new arrivals at Tree, and an exhibition by New Plymouth based artist Marita Green planned for October.  Although we don’t see Emma and Angela during open hours at Tree much these days, they are still very much a part of the Tree team. Recently they visited Marita to collect the pieces for her up and coming solo exhibition, Smallish with a few skatepark tricks in between. ​

Marita has been working over the winter months to create a collection of cups, tumblers, mugs, tripod plates and vases.  Some pieces excite and jeer with a play on words and many works have beautiful patterning with hints of modernism that will delight. Marita’s practice also sits well with ideals of modernism; it is all about the spirit of experimentation. Her approach to her work is intuitive, she creates her style through a freeness and spontaneity.​

​Emma and Angela enjoyed helping pack the show up from Marita’s studio, with chooks grazing and bees a buzzing, and they certainly will be having a ball curating these fun and lively works next week too.
